Blog Post #3
Today, we learned how to use Google Drive. This technology was totally new to me so I found it very interesting. We learned a lot about how to make each of slides look visually nice and appealing to the audience. I also learned that the cover slide is especially important because it is the slide that the audience will be viewing the most. I also learned how to refine searches on Google Images. This was very helpful for me, because I always got frustrated with searching for the correct sizes. I learned that the minimun size for slide images should be 800 X 600 as well. In addition, the title font should be about 60 points and the subtitle should be around 36 points. This class was very useful too, because the professor told us that certain fonts are harder to read for dyslexics, and that colour contrasts are very important because many people are colour blind as well. With these facts in mind, I think I will be able to make a presentation slide that will accommodate most people.
As a class exercise, we tried creating our own slides for our topic (mine was Mexican food). This was a good activity because the professor showed us step-by-step on what should be done next. Then, when it came to our third slide, we worked on our partner's slides instead. This was a good method because I got to view what sorts of things my partner was doing and got to gain an idea from her as well. I was also able to learn how to use the chat on Google Drive, as well.
Overall, I was able to obtain a sufficient amount of information. Everything was very new to me and feel like I have a better understanding of how to make slides for presentation. I hope to gain more knowledge on this so that I can eventually complete a full presentation slide.
